Congratulations to our 2026 GCSE students!
We are immensely proud of the achievements of this year group. Behind every grade is an individual story of hard work, determination and progress, and today is an opportunity to celebrate everything our students have accomplished throughout their time at Connaught School for Girls.
Our students have approached their GCSEs with maturity and resilience. They have responded positively to the unique challenges of the year, reflected carefully on feedback and increasingly taken ownership of their learning through purposeful study and revision. Their results are a testament not only to their academic ability, but also to the commitment and perseverance they have demonstrated throughout their GCSE journey.
This year’s results include some exceptional individual performances. More than one in five GCSE grades awarded were at grades 9–7, equivalent to the former A*–A grades, with many students achieving grades 9–7 across all of their subjects and some securing an outstanding collection of grades 8 and 9.
The wider results demonstrate another strong academic performance for Connaught:
128 students completed Year 11
21.3% of all GCSE grades were at grades 9–7
3.9% of students achieved the very highest grade of 9
57% of students achieved grades 9–5
67% of students achieved a pass in both English and Mathematics
50% achieved grade 5 or above in both English and Mathematics, in line with the national figure
81% of students achieved a pass in GCSE English
The average grade achieved in both English and Mathematics was a strong pass at grade 5
The school’s Attainment 8 score of 50.8 is above both the national average and the average for Waltham Forest schools.
EBacc Average Point Score reached 5.0, representing substantial improvement and comparing strongly with national and local outcomes
An exceptional 96% of students were entered for the English Baccalaureate, one of the highest proportions in Waltham Forest
We are particularly proud that our students continue to benefit from an ambitious and academically rigorous curriculum. Our exceptionally high EBacc entry reflects our belief that students should be encouraged to study a broad range of challenging subjects and should never have their aspirations limited.
These results represent the culmination of five years of learning, growth and determination. They also reflect the dedication of our teaching and support staff and the invaluable encouragement provided by parents and families throughout the students’ time at Connaught.
Most importantly, today belongs to our students. Whether celebrating the very highest grades, exceeding personal targets or overcoming significant challenges to achieve an important qualification, every student has something of which to be proud.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We are incredibly proud of you and wish you every success as you take your next steps beyond Connaught.
