Connaught School for Girls held its first Summer school during the holidays. It took place on Monday 9th August – Friday 13th August, 9 am – 3.30 pm. We had 99% attendance from the new year 7 cohort for the entire week. In total 49 students attended. The school worked with Future Foundations, an external body that focuses on the holistic development of young people and they led the sessions. The students partook in a range of drama-style activities, as well as numeracy and literacy to enhance their confidence and alleviate any concerns about transitioning to secondary school. The week ended with a talent show and the survey results show: “The majority of students found their experience during the programme to be good and felt excited about their future. Throughout the programme, it was great to witness them working in teams and developing key soft skills, which will undoubtedly contribute towards their time at school.”
