Textiles
Textiles Technology involves the study of fabrics and textile products, historical and modern influences on textile design and the processes employed in production, from hand sewing to computer controlled machining.
At Key Stage 3 pupils are introduced to the skills required to produce quality textile items. These skills range from printing techniques, pattern drawing and cutting and competant sewing machine use.
GCSE work gives students the opportunity to develop the skills introduced in Key stage 3, to a higher level. They undertake a major project consisting of a portfolio of design work and a product or range of products which students will have made themseves ( 2007 examples).
