Product Design
Product Design focuses upon three-dimensional products. The use of woods, metals, plastics, electronics and smart materials are explored to understand their properties and how they are shaped and joined together.
At Key Stage 3 pupils work within the 'design process' – a logical sequence of events that designers use to create new innovative ideas and products. Through a variety of projects pupils are introduced to the materials, tools, skills and concepts necessary to undertake a GCSE in this subject. They are also encouraged to learn and use our state of the art CAD and CAM facilities.
At GCSE Product Design coursework consists of a portfolio of design project work and a product or range of products which students will have made.
