Key Stage 4

All students study this subject at Key Stage 4 because…

It helps students increase their depth of understanding about the various ethical issues common in today’s society, locally, nationally and internationally, thereby developing the skills they will need in their everyday lives.

What will you study?

You will be enrolled in Edexcel’s Religious Studies GCSE Short Course, R eligion and L ife, from a C hristian P erspective. This is currently one of the most popular courses available to students in the UK and a certificate in this subject will stand you in very stead when applying for all AS and A level courses at college due to the cross-curricular skills you will be developing throughout this course and its connection with all subjects related to life and human experience in general terms. As there is NO coursework element you will sit a 2 hour 100% exam in May/June of Year 11.

Course structure

Homework

Whilst very few homework activities are set students will be expected to use homework time to good effect.

Assessment

Each module ends with a formal 20 minute “mock” exam. You will sit 5 exams in total and grades realized through these opportunities will inform your predicted grades and attainment level reports to your parents.
