Religious Education
Our programmes of study in RE are based the aims and objectives set by both our Local Agreed Syllabus (Waltham Forest Local Authority 2007), and Edexcel GCSE Exam board, therefore all our modules aim to provide quality learning opportunities during which our students can:
- acquire knowledge and understanding of the beliefs, values and traditions of Christianity and other faiths, including the ideas of Humanists
- consider the influence of beliefs, values and traditions, on our daily lives, local, national and global
- investigate and respond to fundamental questions about life raised by human and religious experience, questions about the meaning and purpose of life
- develop their key skills, relevant not only to the study of religion and life, but which are rooted in respect for the beliefs and ideas of others
All students at Connaught are taught RE in each year group for one hour every week. The RE department adds to the multicultural and multifaith dimension of the school.
