English at Connaught is consistent in its popularity and success. As a team of experienced teachers, we take pride in providing the opportunity to develop essential skills in effective communication and analytical thinking. Students are taught to think creatively and critically and to question what they read.

Regardless of ability, the department's philosophy is that every child should be able to fulfil their academic potential, and high standards are expected from every child. In order to facilitate this, the department strives to create a stimulating learning environment in which every pupil feels that they are able to achieve.

As an exceptionally successful department we regularly achieve high examination results in GCSE and Key Stage 3 tests. The department's philosophy is to enter all students for these national examinations, and our results exceed expectation.
