Enterprise Week 2008
17th - 21st November 2008
Enterprise Activities at Connaught School for Girls
Khalid Sharif , a local businessman with a halal chocolate company, told pupils in years 7,8 and 9 how he had many unsuccessful starts before succeeding with his present company. He advised the girls not to give up on what you believe in- he kindly brought some samples of his produce!
Nabila Pathan , an ex- pupil, spoke to girls in years 10 and 11 about her career since leaving Connaught School. Nabila studied for a degree in science before embarking on a career in broadcasting.
Well done to Year 8, busy all week selling white ribbons in aid of the International Day Against Violence Towards Women (a day marked every year at Connaught).
Year 11 continued to raise funds for their leavers’ tea by washing cars on Thursday after school. The teachers’ cars looked really clean but it was hard work for the volunteers.
On Friday morning all year 10 had a Personal Economics Workshop in the hall. They learnt about debts & credit, banking and how financial decisions can impact on your life. All very relevant in 2008!
Year 10 pupils will enter for the London Schools’ Enterprise Challenge in December.
