Computers for Students

On Wednesday 31st October thirty excited students from ConnaughtSchool for Girls were loaned a computer to use at home whilst they remain students at the school.

The school received a grant from the Government’s Computers for Pupils initiative and added additional funding from its Specialist Status to help girls following the Study Plus programme that aims to help student secure good GCSEs in English and Mathematics.

The computers utilise the latest ‘thin client’ technology that links students with the main school computer via a 3G mobile phone network so that their work can be accessed from anywhere in the country.

Deputy Headteacher Gareth Cross commented: “We are confident that investing in the latest technology will have long-lasting benefits for students and their families, and teachers will have extra flexibility in terms of setting work for a highly motivated set of students.”
