GCSE Results Day 2007

Students and staff at Connaught School for Girls in Leytonstone, London were delighted with the news of their GCSE results for 2007. The school recorded its best ever results with 67% of girls achieving at least five GCSEs at grades A* to C. This achievement is an 8 percentage point increase on results in 2006. 57% of the Year Group achieved at least five GCSEs at grades A* to C including English & Maths, an increase of 9% on 2006.

Connaught School for Girls has dual subject specialism in Languages and Science. Where nationally fewer students are studying languages, all students at Connaught study at least one language at GCSE level and 69% of girls achieved at least one language GCSE at grades A* to C in 2007. An additional 25 students took GCSE French or German one year early, with every student achieving grade B or above.In Science, students achieved above national figures with 64% of girls achieving grades A* to C.

There were a number of Connaught students who achieved exceptional GCSE results in 2007, including:

  • Sabaa Naz (5 A* and 5 A grades)

  • Asiya Patel (5 A* and 3 A grades)

  • Clarice Hilton (4 A*, 5 A and 1 B grades)

  • Sophia Hafeez (2 A*, 7 A and 1 B grades)

Headteacher Ann Betts said: “The results are marvellous. The students deserve this success as they were focussed and put in the effort needed but credit also goes to the hard working, dedicated staff who helped them to achieve.”

Key Stage 3 SATs 2007

During May 2007 our Year 10 pupils (then Year 9) took their Key Stage 3 SATs in English, Maths and Science. The year group performed very well and achieved the following results:
