Best Ever GCSE Exam Results in 2010!

Students and staff at Connaught School for Girls in Leytonstone are delighted with their fantastic GCSE results. The students have achieved the school’s best ever examination results, for the sixth consecutive year.

5 A* - C grades achieved by 74% of the whole year group

Past figures - 2009: 74%, 2008: 72%, 2007: 67%, 2006: 59%

5 A* - C grades including English & Maths achieved by 65% of the whole year group

Past figures - 2009: 63%, 2008: 62%, 2007: 57%, 2006: 48%

1 A* - C grade in a Language achieved by 74% of the whole year group

Past figures - 2009: 74%, 2008: 73%, 2007: 68%, 2006: 57%

Other Languages

• AS level Urdu - 2 students achieved A grades
• Community Languages - 5 students achieved a GCSE A or A* in one of Arabic, Italian, Persian or Polish
• Fast track GCSE French - 21 Year 10 students took the exam after a one year course. 100% of the group achieved A* - C grades. This included 2 A* and 11 A grades.

Classics

12 Year 9 students who studied Classics after school gained A* - C grades, including 1 student with an A* grade & 3 students with A grades.

Individual Performances

There were a number of Connaught students who achieved exceptional GCSE results in 2010, including:

• Khadeejah Undre (10 A* and 2 A grades)
• Muneerah Patel (9 A* and 3 A grades)
• Leyla Noury (7 A*, 4 A and 1 C grades)
• Hafsa Khan (4 A* and 7 A grades)
• Kawsar Kinoo (3 A*, 6 A, 1 B and 1 C grades)
• Faiza Javaid (5 A*, 3 A, 1 B and 1 C grades). Faiza achieved these wonderful results with an amazing determination to succeed after being schooled abroad and only becoming a student at Connaught in late June of the final term in Year 10.

Mrs Ann Betts, Headteacher said “the girls were focussed and worked very hard with the staff to achieve these excellent results and I wish them every success for the future. I am very fortunate to have such a team of committed and dedicated staff who work very hard with the students”.
